Local 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to expanding affordable housing opportunities in Nebraska by utilizing grants and local donations.
Home Value Builders was founded by two experienced builders, each hailing from a family of builders, and together, they have over 30 years of hands-on experience in the industry. Through their work, they recognized a significant need for affordable housing for working individuals and the lack of generational wealth within our community. The goal is to improve our community and empower others to pay it forward, with the mission to tackle what many view as an impossible challenge: making homeownership attainable for working individuals.
To achieve the goal of building affordable housing, they recognized the importance of assembling a skilled team of visionaries and industry experts. The Board Members are dedicated professionals from the real estate and lending sectors, bringing with them extensive knowledge and valuable connections within the community.
Together, we recognize that affordable housing is a significant challenge, and it requires a community effort. That’s why we’re bringing together skilled craftsmen, visionary leaders, and generous donors—all working as one to build quality homes that working individuals can afford.

Steve Vacha
Board Member & Managing Director
Steve Vacha grew up in small towns across Nebraska, where his passion for construction began at an early age. One of his earliest memories is sitting on a driveway at age five, straightening square nails while watching his father and great-grandfather frame a garage. Carpentry and building are in his bloodline.
Steve started his career as a high school teacher, dedicating five years to education before returning to his roots in construction. With over 40 years of experience, he has successfully owned and operated a construction company in the Omaha area, gaining extensive expertise in home building, inspections, and business management.
Steve’s skills include hiring and training qualified professionals, teaching construction techniques, managing operations, and leading growth in both residential and commercial projects. As a Board Member & Managing Director for Home Value Builders, Steve brings his lifelong passion and proven leadership to the mission of creating affordable and high-quality homes.
Jon Vacha
Board Member & Builder
Jon Vacha grew up with a hammer in his hand, inheriting a deep-rooted passion for carpentry and construction. With over 30 years of hands-on experience, there’s little Jon cannot build or recreate.
He earned his accounting degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked as an accountant before returning full-time to the construction industry. In 2009, Jon and Steve Vacha co-founded Home Standards Inspection Services, combining their expertise to deliver high-quality home inspections and building solutions.
Jon’s skill set includes accounting and record-keeping, construction knowledge, home inspections, and exceptional presentation abilities. As a Board Member and Builder for Home Value Builders, Jon brings a unique blend of financial expertise and construction experience to help lead the mission of building affordable and durable homes.
